Brokeback mountain & Spirituality vs. Religion

You know, am I the only one, or are there more people that totally loose the feel of Jack's character when he has the mustache? I think his character changes when he's wearing the false bristle under his nose. Let alone the stupid accent that comes with the mustache. Anyway, with so many religions around the globe, each claiming to be the one and only (except for the few peaceful religions), and with their own God/ Gods; I've decided to go Agnostic. Which basically means I get spiritual every now and then, but don't tie any religion to it. I believe there is some higher power, and that's all. Worshiping it seems worthless to me, because what is worshiping? Should I go build a temple to a higher power to sacrifice lambs? That would be silly. Instead, I think it is good to worship life. That pleases people, most people at least, because people with a bad religion will say you're gonna go to hell if you don't repent. And when people are happy they are radiant with a special warmth that affects everyone around.

Happiness is the highest goal in a man's life, not money, not children, not great sex. Those are just means to become happy: happiness itself can be achieved so easily, without any of that. An acknowledging nod of a passer by can be warming already.
This is also where we find a separation of good and evil; the thing religions are built around. Good people radiate warmth, while bad people send cold shivers over your back. Faces can say a lot about people, and some are better in reading faces than others. I've never been wrong about a face, and though people may seem nice at first, there is nothing like the first impression. Of course there are these two extremes, but there are a lot of people in between those two types. Good and bad, the question that rises is of course: what is good and what is bad? That is complicated, and personal for a great part. First of all, there is the warmth a person gives; that is my primary impression of a person. That is quite universal I think, then there are the 'sins' that I scrutinize; arrogance, aggression, stupidity, injustice, envy and taking joy from the suffering of others.

Those 'sins' will certainly differ per person, but the love a person harbors, which gives them that warmth, that radiation; is universal. Ethics are not an issue in the energy of love, love is something every human being can recognize; sins are based on ethics, same as the Bible is based on the ethics of that time and place.

Suffering is also a universal thing; people suffer in the same way all over the world. Whether it
is a social suffering or a physical pain; or both; they know it is not good. People who put suffering on to other people, without justice or ethics, are evil. Thát is easy to see as well; scrutinizing good from evil is not so hard, your soul will tell you. I wonder, would an evil person be told of it's evil by the soul? Or would evil come from the soul? What is the soul?

The soul, is feeling in it's most basic form; good and evil. I see bad all over the world, where I walk, wherever I look, on television, on the Internet; from skinning live raccoons, or to the hanging of homosexual guys in Iran. A bleeding heart, is what such evil causes. When you see someone in obvi
ous suffering, someone who does not deserve such suffering; doesn't your heart start to hurt? You can only hope the thought of it will fade away as you're moving along, but all this suffering can hardly fade. Every day there is a new addition to the book of pain, another one on the pile of thousands.

We don't need religion to know good from bad, like I said before: "You are your own Bible." You don't even need to be spiritual to know that, all you need to be is good. For if all
evil people had a heart that knows good from bad, then they would all go kill themselves or cry for ever. Bad people are people to feel sad for, because they can't themselves. Their soul is lacking. How I know this?

Have you ever seen Bush crying? Or Fred Phelps? Or Condolleeza Rice?

In other news; I must say it is bothersome to say the least, that Islam is really growing throughout Europe. It is an evil religion, harboring even worse and more stupid ethics than the absurd Christian extremists of America. I am afraid we will eventually have to initiate anti-Islam propaganda and an obstruction of certain freedoms to protect the dumb masses from this horrible religion. This is also why I am not really right for the Socialist Party we have here: they almost promote Islam. I am too conservative and nationalistic for the SP, but sad enough there isn't a more proper party yet. And I'm afraid I'll have to found it.

Very insightful post. It is true that the greatest goal we as humans can attain is happiness.

It like watching children at a play ground, full of life exuberance. They are in the moment with their imaginations and play. I wish we were all like children.

There are very few people who agree 100% with all of the positions of the political party they are most attracted to.

All one must do is study the party's written principles, positions and proposals, and then decide whether overall you agree with the party more than you disagree with it.

It is particularly important to decide if any of the principles, positions or proposals you disagree with are too extreme to warrant your support of the political party, and how much of a legislative influence the party has in effecting change.

If you feel so strongly about restricting immigration and the SP has enough legislative votes to maintain a welcoming immigration policy towards Islamists, then perhaps it is time to bail out and try and form another party of like-minded citizens.

Bush is hollow. Condi wants to be hollow. Cheney has a dark space where a human heart would normally be.

We have an extreme right wing party, that demonizes immigrants; but that is too extreme for me, and besides they're the worst capitalists in our government.

I really need a party of my own :)

And yes, Onanite, children are amazing to watch, let alone work with. That's why I enjoy being a cub-scout leader; you get some insight in the young brains. Each child has its own world it lives in; it's amazing.
