In general, I think the Christian religion set out to make good people. But like every single attempt to create good; take communism for example; evil people mingle in the process and destroy the concept. Christianity has some nice sides to it; but the religion's nature to dominate human life makes any desire to follow Jesus vanish. Freedom is most important.
The Bible, the split tongue; in Corinthians love is praised above all other things, but in the OT we find that gays "shall surely be put to death," who wrote Leviticus!? And we all know that a man who lays with another man as one would lie with a woman... (space to breathe) ...is the same as a gay man. And I know God doesn't hate homosexuals, he just hates the sin; so we should all be celibate and have separate beds; would a heterosexual ever? This is what I mean with "I should be a monk:" gay men cannot have sex, cannot lie with another person in the same bed, and so gay men are forced to live a very lonesome life. Why? God made us the way we are, he meant us to be gay. It is just another flaw in this religion. The Catholics never worried about flaws in the Bible, they imagined an entire sub-religion around it.
Anyway, ... um. Right; religion is lead by evil people, people which, like most people, are greedy and want more and more money and power. In America, religion is a very lucrative business; we all know that, and that says a lot about the religious Americans. The true terror is happening at home; the 9-11 attack deaths are but a fart compared to the millions of individuals who are robbed of their sanity from the day they are born into the sect of Christendom. If there is a God, I really, strongly, doubt any prominent Christian will even be near to having pleased God.
It's so plain obvious; religion is a sect, a cult; it is run by evil; it obstructs your basic freedom and will cost you a pretty penny because pedophiles also need new toys for their basement. I know that not all priests, or whatever title they bear, are pedophiles, but you get the point. The money you invest in saving your soul will go nowhere near God. Donating to a good charity is a much better option; but really nothing is better to save your soul, than being a good person. You don't need religion telling you what is good, every sane human can discriminate good from evil, religion can only obstruct that. You are your own Bible.

I love Catholicism; it so outrageously sectarian, and full of funny rituals. But I get that, those people are simple, and if they can be happy within their sect let them. What I do not get, is the evil that is inside religion; it is so obvious, yet more and more souls wander towards the "Light" that will blind them for ever. Do they not see the truly cruel intentions?
